From the Dust: Gems Hidden in My Sketchbooks

From the Dust: Gems Hidden in My Sketchbooks

Over the past few days, I’ve been going through all my sketchbooks and unfinished artwork — literally dozens of sketchbooks, digital folders, and piles of drawings that had been sitting untouched for years.

It started as an attempt to tidy up… but turned into something much more meaningful.

Sorting through everything felt like a creative liberation. I was buzzing with excitement — there is SO MUCH I've already made. So many ideas, patterns, textures, and color combinations I had completely forgotten about.

This process gave me: – a fresh look at my own work
– clarity on what I actually love
– inspiration for new projects
– and a weird joy from organizing chaos 😄 (I do love organizing.)

Below are just a few examples of what I found — there’s actually much more, but here are ten that stood out.

(I might turn this into a little series if you’re interested…)

1. Interesting textures

2. Ready handmade patterns

3. Reminder of interesting brush strokes

4. Lots of good and not-yet-used sketches

5. Inspiring colour combos

6. Art I love from long ago

7. Ideas for future artworks

8. Beautiful abstract textures

9. Digital prints and patterns

10. Just something wild and unexpected
